Ugh, I mean sure I love watching her rolling in the sunshine and being a horse, it makes my day and watching her like that pushes all the bad times away. I love seeing horses be horses but I have to be honest knowing this is going to take awhile to get her clean again to avoid her skin getting itchy from dirt building up... Somehow with Jolien it seems to really stick under her coat and it’s impossible to really brush out all that ‘mud dust’ as I like to call it.
The only real way is to bath her, but the weather isn’t great and there are strong winds which Isn’t great to be stuck under a cold hose for a long period of time.
Ahh! What a blimmin’ situation right? Can’t leave it as she gets irritated with dirt build up and it drives me crazy not getting it off. Then I can’t risk her having a chill from washing with these temperature drops and high winds.. Not to mention after all the bubbles built up from the scrubbing she’s under the water longer to get that all off as that will cause irritation as well.
Its tiring even even reading that right? Well, I have discovered a product with a great solution to this.
It took me 10-15 minutes to get her from the mud monster to shimmer shiny with a product supplied by Ecogreen Equestrian, called Safe-Care Equine Total Body Wash.

Right let’s go! So this product is SO simple to use you merely spray the horse with water either the whole horse or just the area you wish to clean, spray on some Total Body Wash. You leave this on the horse for a few minutes so it can work it’s magic, this formula gentle breaks the structure of the dirt rather than burning it off like most shampoos. It’ll keep the horses natural oils instead of stripping it off yet remove scrub and dirt/stains. When I was merely hosing with water to start I noticed no dirt really came off but when I went back with water after leaving this on for a few minutes brown water was literally just falling off her leaving her scruff and mud free underneath.
Tada!! She felt wonderful after she dried off too, not to mention she must have felt amazing because this was her the morning after a bath having fun and cantering across the field. Look how shiny and clean she was even after being in the stable for the night -safe to say you would be fine bathing the day before a show with this!!
